Join us for an engaging and accessible Key Stage 2 live lesson introducing pupils to the concept of voting in a clear, neutral and age-appropriate way.
In this session, pupils will explore how groups make decisions when people have different opinions. Through relatable classroom scenarios, hands-up activities and a live demonstration using j2Vote, children will learn that voting is a way to choose together, that everyone gets one vote, and that the option with the most votes wins.
Pupils will take part in a model voting activity, interpret live results, and discuss how voting helps groups move forward even when not everyone agrees. The session also makes simple real-life connections to school councils, clubs and wider decision-making.
To consolidate learning, pupils will create their own digital poster in JIT Paint, using the Voting Clipart Library and text tools to communicate key ideas such as “Everyone gets a say” and “One person, one vote.” Teachers can pause the broadcast to allow time for creation and classroom discussion.
This lesson provides a clear foundation for understanding voting and shared decision-making and forms part of a wider series exploring how choices are made.
